A Call for 2006-2007 Grant Applications

for

The Ronald and Ethel Gruen Endowed Fund

for the Advancement of Secondary Jewish Education

Through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Gruen of Dallas, Texas, an endowed fund was established for the benefit of Modern Orthodox high schools that are members-in-good-standing of AMODS.  Since 2003, 19 AMODS schools have benefited from disbursements from the Gruen Endowed Fund.

During the 2006-2007 academic year, grants of at least $10,000 each will be awarded to up to ten AMODS schools for the specific and exclusive purpose of (a) need-based scholarships and/or (b) mechina programs that provide instruction for students who require upgrading in Judaica subjects.

Please note that recipient schools may be required to participate in on-site teacher training seminars, distance learning programs, and the like.

Applications, current budgets and financial statements,

and any other supporting material should be sent to:

Association of Modern Orthodox Day Schools & Yeshiva High Schools

500 W. 185th St., Suite FH-413

New York, NY 10033

All materials must be received by February 1, 2007.

In order to benefit as many schools as possible, at least one year must elapse before a school that has received a grant from the Gruen Endowed Fund can reapply to be a recipient.

The application forms will be reviewed by the Selection Committee; recipients will be advised of the Committee’s decision by February 15, 2007; and the awardees will be honored at the upcoming AMODS Leadership Shabbaton, to be held in Parsippany, NJ from March 9-11, 2007.

Grant awards will be received on or before June 1, 2007.

Questions regarding the Gruen Endowed Fund or your school’s application may be addressed to Nathan Kruman at (212) 960-5260 or kruman@yu.edu.
